Backend Support Buddy: Monthly Tech Support Intro & Case Study
I have had the pleasure of working with many amazing clients, but I am truly excited to share more about one particular client that I’ve been working with for the past 6 months.
Melissa McCall is the owner of Moving Little Minds, a small business that focuses on supporting preschool educators on how to use science based approaches to develop children’s literacy skills while still keeping things fun and engaging. She offers in person training, physical products, digital products, and incredible (free!) resources.
Our worlds collided when I myself was looking for resources to support my preschoolers literacy development and ironically she had also recently been introduced to my community network group, Cultivating Connections. I went to one of her in person pop-ups and the rest is history.
When we connected she had been in business for a year and a half. She had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do, but wasn’t clear on where to start and how to do it. We chatted for a bit and I recognized that unfortunately my current offering of 1 day intensives was not the right fit for where she was at in her business. So, I proposed a different approach to meet her needs and it has been absolutely fantastic. Read on to learn more about our collaboration and the progress she’s made in her business.
The Plan
After completing an initial questionnaire we met virtually to dive into her business looking at the tools/platforms she was using, what she had currently set up, and where she wanted to take things. Her goals were:
“Get content online to create some passive income”
“First priority is probably to set something up on my email so that it doesn't go to spam.”
“Organizing products on my website in a way that makes sense”
“Making a funnel...what is this even? haha” (< I love this one)
We began meeting virtually twice a month with ongoing messaging between meetings for continued support to keep her moving forward.
The Breakdown
So, sitting down to compile this all it was really cool to reflect back on all the things Melissa has been able to accomplish. Check out the month by month breakdown of what we’ve addressed.

Q&A with Melissa McCall, Moving Little Minds
Sara: What were the biggest challenges you were facing when we started working together?
Melissa: I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I was sending emails and writing blog posts without any strategy or intention. I was clueless about the need for the basics!
Sara: How were those challenges affecting your business or your day-to-day operations?
Melissa: This lack of knowledge impacted my sales and professionalism. I was making silly mistakes that I was unaware of.
Sara: How did you feel about your tech knowledge and skills before we started our work together?
Melissa: I was basically clueless. I could create a simple email campaign, create a basic webpage, write a blog post, and create a shop using my website platform.
Sara: What specific results have you seen in your business (e.g., more time, smoother processes, better tech systems)?
Melissa: I have clear sales and welcome sequence emails, which are amazing. I love that these are on autopilot. I am also much more organized with segmenting my target markets, and know several tricks now to set up automations myself.
Sara: How has this support impacted your ability to focus on other areas of your business?
Melissa: I can spend more time creating content and products, which is my passion!
Sara: In what ways has our work together changed the way you approach or think about your business operations?
Melissa: I have become much more purposeful and targeted in my sales approach. There are systems in place for each channel, and this has made my operations run more smoothly.
Sara: If you could give advice to others who are struggling with tech overwhelm, what would it be?
Melissa: Get help! You will do more damage than harm by waiting. Get your systems in place from the very beginning.
Sara: Anything else that you’d like to add?
Melissa: You have been SO amazing to work with. I am so grateful for our work together and feel more confident as a business owner because of your guidance. I would have been so lost without you! I am excited to take what we have learned and expand in some great ways in the future.
Umm, seriously… WOW. Getting this feedback from Melissa gave me all the feels. We work so hard in our businesses to provide offers, services, products, etc. that will help people. So, when you get that feedback that you’re doing what you’ve set out to do - it’s pretty cool.
But, enough about me! I have been SO inspired working with Melissa and have had the intentions of offering this support to other business owners as well, but life…
The time is here though! I’m excited to be sharing this journey with you all today and to open up my calendar for other business owners who could benefit from this support.
Monthly Tech Support Service
Here’s how it works:
You’ll fill out an initial questionnaire all about your business.
Once I receive your questionnaire I’ll start strategizing. During our first meeting we’ll discuss strategy recommendations and I’ll educate you on what needs to be done to make it happen.
You’ll have the opportunity to meet with me (virtually) 2x/month for 30 minutes each session to get 1:1 support for questions and implementation. We can chat, I can demonstrate, we can get. ish. done.
In between calls you’ll have access to me via email or messaging for continued support on the platform of your choice (email, Slack, or Voxer). You can send messages, documents, screenshots, screen recordings, etc. for me to review and make recommendations as needed. Response time is between 24-48 hours (but generally under 24 hours) Monday - Friday 8AM to 5PM EST.
Extra Perks: Discounts on my other service offerings. Decide you want to hire me for half or full day intensive? Or even just a power hour? You’ll receive a 10% discount. Additional calls may also be added on at a discounted rate (as schedule permits).
Other Info: This service does require an initial 3-month commitment, but then transitions to a month to month contract. I just ask that you give me notice if you’ll be discontinuing at least 5 business days before the first of the month so I can plan accordingly. Good things take time and I want to help see your goals through. Providing only a single month of this support would be a disservice to both you and myself.
